I got tired of the stupid swishy sidebar on the new gmail UI (As are a lot of people, I believe) I swear, I gave it a fair chance. But it just didn’t grow on me. It just got more annoying with every passing day.  And then I remembered the nifty gmail lab - the right-side chat. Though this isn’t the best solution to getting rid of the movable sidebar, but at least it’s a temporary fix.
